Rebuilding & Replacement

We recommend that your backflow device be rebuilt if it has been in service a number of years. Depending on the usage you can rebuild every three to five years. We use original manufacturer parts and can advise you ahead of time when your valve is due for a sophisticated rebuild. Most parts are available even for older backflow prevention devices, however if parts are not available or your device is in poor condition it would require replacing the backflow prevention device.

Every year you should get your backflow device tested. The backflow valve is tested for internal and external conditions. A backflow prevention device failure to operate correctly may be obvious from a visual inspection but with the proper testing equipment performed by a certified backflow tester it can easily be detected. If you have a failed backflow device, you would want it repaired or replaced as soon as possible. Water King Inc is ready to make all your necessary repairs all at affordable prices.

There are many different manufactures of backflow prevention devices. When doing repairs or replacements there are a few things to keep in mind. One is the person working on my device an experienced competent backflow specialist. Two are they using original manufacturers replacement parts. Three it is important to know that all new backflow prevention parts and replacement backflow devices must be leadfree. Four if you need to replace your valve there are forms that need to be filed with your local water district or water supplier that lets them know the serial number has changed. If this form is not completed at the time of replacement this could trigger a letter of compliance at the annual test submission.

This is a 6” Watts 825Y, 35yrs old and still working with a little maintenance. This valve has been in service for many years. Minerals deposits from the water cause the rubber seats to accumulate rust and corrosion that result in a failed device.
